Exalate supports Australia residency

Exalate Cloud is now hosted in Australia 🎉🎉🇦🇺🇦🇺

Exalate Cloud expands to Australia. You can now request an Australian Exalate Cloud deployment on Google Cloud in Sydney. The option supports every Exalate connector and lets you consider local hosting at the start of an integration or migration project.

What this Means for You

  • A local hosting option. If your organization requires Australian infrastructure for its integration service, you can now request an Exalate Cloud deployment in-country.
  • An integration layer that matches your stack. If your Jira data already lives in Australia, your Exalate integrations can now run there too.
  • Clearer security and procurement conversations. Your teams have an Australian deployment option to assess against their hosting requirements.
  • Your connectors, locally. Jira, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Salesforce, Zendesk, GitHub, and every other Exalate connector are supported.
  • Integrations that support phased migrations. Old and new systems may need to operate in parallel while teams move between platforms. Exalate provides the integration between them, synchronizing agreed records and updates throughout the transition.

Why Residency Matters now in Australia

Australia’s privacy framework continues to evolve. The 2024 privacy reforms were followed by draft proposals released for consultation in 2026. Those proposals remain subject to further government consideration.

For APRA-regulated organizations, CPS 230 sets requirements for managing material service providers and requires APRA to be notified of material offshoring arrangements. Hosting location is one part of assessing an integration against an organization’s requirements.

If the data has to stay in Australia, the integration has to run there too.

Many teams have already acted on their core platforms. Atlassian Cloud, which started in Sydney, lets Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence customers on eligible plans keep in-scope data in Australia. The integration between those systems is the next place the question gets asked. Now it has a local answer.

Why We Built It

Australian data residency requests had reached us before. For Australian customers and partners, residency was a recurring requirement. We see the same in the US, where hosting location is often decisive rather than a nice-to-have.

What tipped the decision was a specific project.

The Project that Made it Real

A major Australian enterprise, working with a global systems integrator, is migrating from ServiceNow to Jira Cloud. Australian hosting for its Exalate Cloud deployment was a prerequisite for the project. The customer is already using the new Sydney deployment to support that migration.

“Hosting location is often the deciding factor in whether a platform can be used at all,” said Francis Martens, co-founder at Exalate. “A migration that couldn’t proceed without local hosting settled it for us. If the data has to stay in Australia, the integration has to run there too. Now it can.”

Planning Around Both Sides of the Integration

Australian hosting applies to the Exalate Cloud deployment. If you synchronize information with a system hosted outside Australia, the information exchanged with that system leaves the country.

Expanding the Exaverse

Our vision, the Exaverse, is a worldwide network of connected companies that collaborate across system boundaries while each keeps control of its own data. This concept of control includes where that data lives.

Australian hosting means more Australian companies and their partners can join the network on terms that meet their requirements, and the Exaverse now reaches another region.
