Position Overview:As a Junior Scala Developer at Exalate, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced developers and contribute to the full software development life cycle. You will be involved in designing, coding, testing, and debugging software solutions, and you will receive mentorship to enhance your skills and grow as a professional in the field of Scala development.
Role Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and assist in translating them into technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain software applications using the Scala programming language.
- Participate in code reviews to learn best practices and ensure code quality.
- Debug and resolve software defects and issues under the guidance of senior team members.
- Assist in the documentation of software design, coding, and testing activities.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in Scala development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools.
Our requirements for this position are:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of software development principles and practices.
- Exposure to Scala programming language or other JVM languages is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Business travel: Willing and able to travel once per month for a minimum of 2 days to Barcelona, Spain during the first 6 months.
Bonus points for:
- Academic or personal projects demonstrating programming skills in Scala or related technologies.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN).
- Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.
- Some experience in working in an Agile setup
